Job Summary:
Wrightbus, a fast‑moving company that has experienced considerable growth in the last year, is looking to bolster and strengthen its technical relationship with strategic supply partners of onboard heating, ventilation & air conditioning systems. To solidify this working relationship, the post holder will act as Wrightbus's representative and single point of contact for all technical discussions between teams. We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist – HVAC.
- Responsible for the specification, selection and integration of HVAC components and systems into new and existing vehicle designs, ensuring all technical aspects are fully considered and validated.
- Undertake the technical assessment and analysis of the options available from component to system level, recommending the optimal solution that satisfies system requirements while meeting overall vehicle objectives and ensuring compliance from all stakeholders.
- Develop and design product options in line with customer specifications.
- Investigate and source any requirement for new materials and technology.
- Work with suppliers and partners to ensure components and sub‑systems can be integrated together to achieve the overall vehicle objectives and performance.
- Coordinate with the assembly and manufacturing teams to ensure that the HVAC design is clearly defined and controlled.
- Manage the definition, execution and successful completion of verification and validation plans against specified requirements.
- Support the NPD strategy for EV, FCEV and HEV vehicles and systems.
- Provide system technical information and documentation for both internal and external customers.
- Document, validate and provide FMEA information and analysis for design reviews and NPD gateways.
- Provide technical assistance to production, support engineers and the customer.
- Produce system layout drawings.
- Create bills of material, specifications and detailed designs.
- Produce and manage component and systems specifications.
- Support prototype build, validation and product sign off.
- HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in vehicle systems design.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive HVAC design.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics.
- Experience with P&.
- Experience with flow analysis.
- Problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Experience in engineering report writing.
