Transport Planner

Salary: £35,500 - dependent on experience

Employer: Stewart International Transport, Banbridge, Co. Down – an award‑winning transport company specialising in heavy haulage, abnormal cargo and machinery transport.

About the role: An exciting opportunity to join our expanding Transport Department, contributing to day‑to‑day operations in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities
  • General administrative duties: answering and making phone calls to customers, suppliers, drivers and other third parties.
  • Managing email enquiries, sending and receiving information from customers and suppliers.
  • Accepting and processing customer orders, tracking orders and providing updates.
  • Accurate data entry into Stewart International Transport systems.
  • Co‑ordinating sub‑contractors and booking ferries/recording shipments.
  • Providing drivers with required information and resolving issues.
  • Supporting the Fleet Manager with maintenance related duties.
  • Managing PODs, CMRS and all paperwork within the transport office.
  • Completing customs paperwork such as transit and TSS.
  • Assisting senior planners with route planning and driver allocation.
  • Adhering to Stewart International’s Health and Safety practices.
Desirable skills
  • Previous administrative or transport planning experience in a transport office.
  • GCSE qualifications – English or above.
Essential skills
  • Interest or knowledge in the transport sector with at least 1 year of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent use of MS Office (Excel and Outlook).
  • Strong organisational skills – good time‑keeping and prioritising tasks.
  • High attention to detail, professional and approachable.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently with a positive attitude.
  • Capability to work under pressure to meet deadlines for the business, customers and drivers.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing situations.

Hours: 8 am–6 pm, Monday to Friday (Saturdays may be required). On‑job training will be provided, with overtime and opportunities for career progression to the role of Transport Planner.

We offer: Competitive salary up to £35,500 (dependent on experience), company uniform, on‑job training, free on‑site secure parking, 28 days annual holiday.
