General Summary

This position reports to the Head of Software Engineering or their designee and is located in Banbury, UK. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintainability, and highest quality standards of the software, while working closely with Software Engineering developers and the product team.

General Responsibilities
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across departments to support software development goals.
  • Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to identify and resolve defects and performance issues.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive innovation in testing practices.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Software Engineering or their designee.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, document, and track bugs and performance issues.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, system, and regression tests.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for C# applications running on Windows desktops and in the browser.
  • Maintain documentation of test procedures and outcomes.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Continuously improve testing strategies, tools, and processes.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure testability and quality are built into the software from the start.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
  • Participate in code reviews with a focus on test coverage and quality.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality code standards.
  • Advocate testing best practices within the team.
Education And Work Experience
  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related STEM course.
  • Proven experience in software development and testing, preferably in the automotive or motor sport industry.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Test Complete, Ranorex).
  • Knowledge of programming in C#.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and continuous integration tools. Preferably Git and Microsoft Dev Ops, including Dev Ops pipelines.
  • Proven background in testing C# applications across both Windows desktop and browser-based environments.
Specialized Knowledge And Skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Committed to driving software quality and advancing test automation.
  • Solid grasp of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Understanding of UI automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Win App Driver , or Test Stack.

  • Experience testing Windows desktop applications (e.g., WPF, Win Forms) and web applications (e.g., ASP.NET, Blazor).
  • A confident yet adaptable approach to identifying and resolving software issues collaboratively.
  • Experience or a desire to program in C#
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining automated tests.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest.
  • Detail-oriented and proficient in test development.
