Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant

Job summary We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and conscientious pharmacy dispensers to join our busy hospital pharmacy team. Previous hospital experience would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be given.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who do not possess the NVQ Level 2 (relevant units) in Pharmacy Service Skills/Pharmaceutical Sciences but will be paid at Band 3 Annexe 21 rate until they have achieved the required qualifications and experience.

• Assist with the dispensing and supply of medication as well as the receipt, processing, storage and stock control of medicines in the pharmacy department and on wards in the hospital.
• Support other areas of pharmacy at ward level and support ward-based pharmacy teams.

• Successfully achieved the relevant units of pharmacy services skills NVQ level 2 (QCF) or a GPhC accredited training programme of equivalent level to pharmacy service skills NVQ level 2 (QCF).
• Proficiency in English and/or Welsh;
  Welsh language skills desirable.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills, including calculations, percentages, decimals and fractions.
• Previous pharmacy experience (hospital or community) is an advantage but not mandatory.

• ECDL or equivalent.
• Current knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice.
