Job Summary
The Residue Analysis Chemist will be responsible for the analysis of chemical residues, contaminants, and impurities in food and pharmaceutical samples using advanced analytical techniques. The role demands strong expertise in chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods, method validation, and compliance with global regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, solvents, impurities, and contaminants in food and pharmaceutical samples
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, UHPLC, GC-FID/ECD , and related instruments
Develop, optimize, validate, and verify analytical methods as per ICH, ISO/IEC 17025, SANTE, AOAC, USP, EP, and FDA guidelines
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including MRLs, ICH Q2 (R1/R2), GMP, GLP , and data integrity principles
Review analytical data for accuracy, precision, and compliance before report issuance
Prepare and maintain SOPs, validation reports, test methods, and analytical documentation
Conduct internal quality control checks, proficiency testing, and uncertainty of measurement studies
Investigate OOS, OOT, and deviations , and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Support internal and external audits by regulatory and accreditation bodies
Train, mentor, and technically guide junior analysts and laboratory staff
Ensure calibration, qualification, and preventive maintenance of analytical instruments
Maintain laboratory safety, chemical handling, and waste disposal compliance
Required Skills & Technical Expertise
Extensive hands-on experience with multi-residue analysis techniques (QuEChERS, SPE, LLE)
Strong knowledge of chromatographic separation and mass spectrometry detection
Expertise in analytical method validation and transfer
Familiarity with LIMS, CDS (Empower, Chem Station, Mass Hunter, etc.) , and data integrity requirements
Ability to interpret complex analytical results and regulatory specifications
Strong documentation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Preferred Experience
Experience in ISO/IEC 17025 accredited , GMP/GLP compliant laboratories
Exposure to food safety regulations (FSSAI, Codex, EU, US FDA) and pharma regulations (ICH, USP, EP)
Experience handling regulatory inspections and client technical queries
