Job Summary
Gi Group is recruiting for 2x Composites Laminator positions at McLaren Composites Technology Centre. These are temporary trial roles with permanent opportunities for suitable candidates. The role is part of a small multifunctional production team focused on quality, cost control, productivity, and safety. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm shifts, rotating weekly. Pay rates are £23.36 per hour (up to 40 hours weekly), £35.04 per hour after 40 hours and on Saturdays, and £46.72 per hour for Sunday overtime.
The initial contract runs from January 2026 to June 2026, with potential for full‑time offers.
- Production and laminating of road car components.
- Mould preparation, manufacture, and maintenance.
- Vacuum bagging of components.
- Operation of mini autoclaves.
- Maintain the highest quality standards on all manufactured composite components.
- Support the Team Leader with prioritising work and other activities.
- Stand in for the Team Leader if they are absent.
- Contribute to training and development of other team members.
- Ensure the work area is clean, tidy, and orderly in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Proactively develop processes to improve quality and efficiency.
- Set an example to production operatives.
- Provide support on all processes in the department.
- Work to challenging and demanding deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Professional and mature attitude towards work and others.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, highly self‑motivated.

- Previous background in composites, automotive, or manufacturing (essential).
- Knowledge of composite materials.
- Experience and understanding of quality issues.
- Pre‑preg laminating experience.
- Consolidation checks.
- Proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through training and on‑the‑job expertise.
- Previously demonstrated initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
- Good knowledge base of materials.
