Join Our Team as a Sister/Charge Nurse – In-patient Unit (IPU)

Barnsley Hospice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated In-patient Unit team. In this rewarding role you will lead by example, ensuring the highest standards of palliative and end-of-life care for our patients and their loved ones.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the nursing team, setting a positive tone and promoting a calm, safe environment.
  • Co‑ordinate complex care plans, manage discharges, and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support professional development, fostering a culture of learning and teamwork.
  • Deliver person‑centred care, responding to the needs of patients, families and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • BSc Nursing (or equivalent) and a current UK nursing registration.
  • Excellent clinical skills and a confident leadership style.
  • Experience of working in a specialist palliative care environment preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to inspire and support colleagues.
  • Adaptable, resilient and embracing change in a dynamic environment.

Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for people living with a life‑limiting illness, whilst supporting those close to them during the period of illness and bereavement.
