An exciting opportunity has now arisen within the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care.
In this role, you will work across the Barnsley neighbourhoods, providing supportive palliative care to enhance the quality of life for patients and carers with any life limiting illness requiring palliative care, including complex physical, psychological & emotional needs.
The post holder will possess extensive knowledge of palliative medication to support the complex symptom management needs of the patient.
As Band 7 Macmillan CNS Palliative Care, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to manage a caseload of people with specialist palliative care needs
- Excellent working knowledge of pain & symptom management & managing complex emotional & psychological needs
- Ability to provide highly specialised advice/guidance to members of the wider health & social care team
- Ability to design & deliver palliative care education
- Ability to work as an effective team member

Main duties of the jobAs Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist Palliative Care, you will:
- Assess, develop & implement specialist palliative care for patients & family, monitoring & evaluating the effectiveness of that care enabling patients to be maintained in the environment of their choice
- Work closely with neighbourhood teams, primary care, & adult social care partners to ensure seamless support for individuals with complex needs
- Be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes & behaviours relevant to employment & act in accordance with the NMC Code Professional standards of practice
- Have a key role in training, education & staff development, actively participate in regular supervision & appraisals contributing to clinical leadership facilitating a culture of learning/reflective practice
- Have high level communication & interpersonal skills
- Be part of the core neighbourhood team and provide leadership for palliative/ end of life care team for the team, including provision of supervision and clinical advice and direction
