Are you a skilled Systems Design Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to play a key role in end-to-end product development? Our client, a specialist within the engineering and technology sector, is seeking a talented individual to join their Design Engineering Team and drive innovative solutions from concept to completion.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives in a technical, project-led environment and enjoys producing high‑quality engineering documentation that underpins cutting‑edge products.
The RoleAs a Systems Design Engineer, you’ll be central to the full Product Design Process, supporting system architecture, documentation production, requirements capture, proving activities and customer liaison. Your work will directly contribute to safe, compliant and high‑performing solutions across a range of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure safe working practices for yourself and others, promoting a zero‑harm culture
- Analyse customer documentation to capture technical requirements
- Produce systems design documentation for reviews, including:
- Design Specifications
- System Architecture Diagrams
- Initial project plans (development, verification, safety)
- Support proposal generation and cost estimations with cross‑functional teams
- Create Bills of Materials within the ERP system
- Develop design proving and compliance documents such as:
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation
- Environmental and EMC qualification test plans
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical matters
- Conduct environmental and EMC proving at external test houses (some UK travel may be required)
- Produce final compliance matrices and qualification reports
- Strong magnetic design skills and understanding of production techniques
- Ability to communicate technical detail clearly and concisely
- Skilled 3D visualiser with modelling knowledge
- Eligible to work on military‑grade products (ITAR compliance required)
- Degree in a technical or engineering discipline (HND with relevant experience considered)
- Experience in systems engineering for small to medium development projects
- Solid IT skills including MS Office and project planning tools
- Understanding of engineering principles and technical problem‑solving
- Familiarity with Gantt charts and project admin tools
- Committed to quality, safety and engineering excellence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Pragmatic, innovative and able to manage competing priorities
- Resilient, dedicated and solutions‑focused
- Confident yet collaborative, with excellent listening skills
- Team‑oriented and able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
