Field Tax Advisor and Preparer
FBC Farm and Small Business Tax Consultants – a family‑owned firm founded in 1952, one of Canada’s largest tax and financial consulting partners for small businesses, with 12 branches and over 15,000 members across the country.
Position OverviewAs a Regional Tax Advisor you will meet members in their place of business to understand their financial situations, provide tailored tax strategies that minimize taxes in both the short and long term, and introduce our full range of services. You will work primarily on the road, reporting into the Barrie office. The role requires strong technical expertise in Canadian tax and accounting standards and a passion for building lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional tax and accounting advice to members.
- Review and file complex personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns.
- Develop and implement tax‑planning strategies for farm and small business owners.
- Maintain strong client relationships as the primary contact for key accounts.
- Conduct member reviews.
- Support seasonal and year‑round reconciliations and filings, including GST/HST, T1, T2, and other applicable tax returns.
- Foster strong relationships with members and secure referrals.
- Identify member needs and connect them with other domain experts within the company.
- At least one full corporate tax cycle; 3+ cycles preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations (T1, T2, T3).
- Experience managing client relationships and accounting teams.
- Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software:
Taxprep/IFirm, Xero, or Profile. - Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
- Proficient in corporate tax processes and regulations.
- Experience with agriculture and/or preparing tax returns for farms and small businesses preferred.
