R&D Full Time BARRIE, ON $23.05 - $23.06 CAD per hour
Support the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines, robotic devices, and 3D printers. Contribute to innovative prototype development, production part creation, and the efficient functioning of automated systems. This is a supporting technician role designed to work closely with our Automation Technologist. The Junior R&D Technician will help keep projects moving, trials running smoothly, and prototypes coming to life
Key Responsibilities and Accountability- Operate and support 3D printers (Bambu, Creality filament, Phrozen resin), laser engravers, CNC machines, and a UR10e collaborative robot
- Assist with part testing, process trials, and prototype builds
- Work with Microsoft Office and Bambu Studio to support prototyping workflows
- Safely use hand tools and shop equipment in a warehouse or lab environment (PPE provided)
- Read and follow technical drawings, schematics, and documentation
- Maintain accurate records of test results, trials, and process improvements
- Take on technical and operational tasks to support the lead Automation Technologist
- Troubleshoot challenges independently and elevate important issues when needed
- Education:
College diploma in a technical field such as Mechanical, Electromechanical, Robotics, or Manufacturing - Experience:
At least a co‑op placement or several months of hands‑on work in R&D, manufacturing, or a technical environment - Familiarity with additive manufacturing, CNC machining, robotics, and prototyping tools
- Ability to read technical documents and follow processes accurately
- Strong attention to detail and solid documentation skills
- Comfortable in a warehouse or lab environment with safety protocols
- Proactive and resourceful with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively
