In this important role you will be pivotal in driving the estimating process and nurturing customer relationships. Your experience and expertise will be invaluable in helping the organization analyzing and crafting responses to customer needs and request. You’ll achieve this by compiling material, labour, and external service costs, along with design specifications and related documents, to deliver precise, timely estimates to clients.

Serve as the primary liaison for clients, managing new sales orders, RFQs, project updates, and meetings.Prepare detailed estimates by collecting customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and related documents, identifying machine routings, and determining material and labour/machine hour requirements.Collaborate with customers, design/estimating engineers, and production teams to develop accurate, margin-appropriate quotes.Participate in decisions on new opportunities with sales and engineering, considering manufacturing capabilities, margin potential, and business strategies.Present approved estimates to clients as the main point of contact.Coordinate with purchasing or directly with suppliers to obtain pricing and technical information.Confirm any RFQ changes with clients and secure necessary approvals.Manage and coordinate all information between design engineering, purchasing, and production departments for RFQ development.Maintain the integrity of parts data within their ERP System.Ensure comprehensive data analysis, review overall margins, and obtain approvals before issuing quotes to clients.Report on win-loss analysis, review estimates versus actuals, and assess margins by client.Experience
Proven experience in direct customer engagement.Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, design, purchasing, manufacturing, and sales.Qualifications
Proficiency in estimating practices and methodologies within a sheet metal fabrication environment.Familiarity with CAD software, Solid Works, and mechanical design principles.Experience with MRP/ERP software and bills of material.Strong understanding of general metal manufacturing workflows and process routings.Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and equipment.Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.Analytical problem-solving skills with strong mathematical aptitude.Demonstrates humility, ambition, and interpersonal intelligence as an ideal collaborator.Education
A college degree in a mechanical or design discipline, or 5 years of equivalent practical experience.
