Position Description
Continually seek out new opportunities to improve and optimize design parameters to maximize manufacturing efficiency in accordance with DFA / DFM practices.Working as part of a team coordinate and communicate with other departments including, estimating, purchasing, planning, production operations, customers, and suppliers.Create CAD and assembly drawings, component details, bills of material and work order packages. Design processes may include reverse engineering of customer product, mechanical hardware selection and producing outsource specifications.Ensure drawings and designs are created accurately based on information provided and validate internal and customer instructions for accuracy and consistency.Analysis and response to corrective actions as a result of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) specific to design parameters and processes.Experience
Advance knowledge of Solidworks and familiar with Draftsight or AutoCAD.DFA / DFM methodologies (Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturability)Knowledge of metal fabrication technical processes, equipment, and manufacturing workflowsExperience preparing 2D drawings with weld symbols and manufacturing specificationsSound understanding of BOM structures and process routings in an ERP environmentPossess strong communication and presentation skills both verbal and writtenQualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong business acumen, sense of urgency, and thrive on the challenge to continually improve and grow. Must have strong customer service experience.
Education
University or College degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, or similar, combined with a minimum 5 years of practical design experience.
