A youngster who would benefit from frequent one-on-one time and needs extra assistance and encouragement is paired with a mentor. The child is removed from their home surroundings and brought into a community activity or event by volunteers. On occasion, the volunteer may work on a project at the child's home with the child. The child might need to be transported by volunteers.
The volunteer's weekly commitment to the child or youth ranges from 2-3 hours.
The role involves mentoring a child and participating in community activities or events. The volunteer may also work on projects at the child's home and provide transportation as needed.
