    The Opportunity:

    The combined PACU and Same Day Care Nurse plays a vital role in providing comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing same-day surgical procedures and those recovering from anesthesia. This position requires a skilled nurse to provide both preoperative and postoperative care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patients, administering medications, monitoring recovery in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and ensuring a smooth transition for patients throughout the surgical process.

    The role demands excellent critical thinking, patient advocacy, and effective communication skills to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

    Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum of two year of recent critical care nursing experience required
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • PACU Certificate required (or to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Critical Care or Emergency Department Certification required
  • Excellent nursing assessment, communication, critical thinking, organization, documentation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills when dealing with staff, physicians, patients and family members.
