Westmorland and Furness Council, Highways and Transport service, are looking for an experienced, motivated, and friendly individual to join us as a Highway Network Engineer. This secondment opportunity is an excellent career step for candidates with experience in highways, transportation, and construction backgrounds, looking to join a large and thriving organisation.
In this role, you will assist with leading the Furness area Highways team by managing, preparing, designing and processing highway improvement and maintenance projects, as well as undertaking inventory collection. This includes carrying out activities relating to surveys, design, specification, data collection and input.
Qualifications & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
:
- Lead the Furness area Highways team in project management and design activities.
- Prepare, design, and process highway improvement and maintenance projects.
- Collect inventory data through surveys, design, specification, and data collection activities.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on specifications and standards for highway design and maintenance.
- Advise on the application of legislation, regulation, policy, and principles for internal and external customers.
Qualifications
:
- Strong communicators with ability to provide technical advice and guidance.
- Significant experience in highway, transportation, or construction design.
- Sound knowledge of local government and customer engagement.
- Awareness of construction contracts, highway maintenance activities, and national design standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Experience of winter maintenance desirable; full training and support provided.
