360 Labs Initiative at a Glance
The 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED). The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.
The 360 Labs will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. Our ambition is to bring to life a thriving workplace environment, where your collaborative mindset is as valued as your professional expertise. Our goal is to act as a highly integrated ecosystem, supporting research and development, working collaboratively, and focused on fostering excellence and sustainability.
Together, these efforts will serve to increase the speed, enhance the robustness and improve the sustainability of our exploratory research and early discovery activities.
The Tissue and Spatial Technologies Platform of the 360 Labs Chapter in the Strategy, Portfolio & Operations Global Function in pRED is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated, and collaborative scientist to join its dynamic and innovative Histopathology team. The successful candidate will be highly knowledgeable in every step of the histopathology workflow and its application throughout the drug development process. You will work with a sense of urgency as a part of a matrix team, providing a broad range of specialized histology capabilities by leveraging state-of-the-art equipment.
You will support your colleagues by providing expert technical consultations, coordinating between projects, and leading training sessions. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with scientists from our therapeutic disease areas and functions to consult on, plan, and advance experiments in early drug discovery within the pRED organization.
Your Role and Responsibilities
You will plan histopathology projects, apply histology techniques (including, but not limited to tissue processing, sectioning, IHC/ISH/IF staining, slide scanning and image quantification) and be accountable for the timely implementation and execution of assays;
You will act as a scientific partner to our disease therapeutic area teams, translating their biological questions into actionable histopathology projects and strategic approaches;
You will enhance the work of your colleagues by sharing your technical and biological expertise, helping to coordinate and drive their projects forward. You will also play a proactive role in the open lab by training, educating and helping users;
You will embrace a culture of continuous learning by actively engaging with the latest scientific literature to stay at the forefront of emergent histopathology and digital pathology technologies and approaches; you will present findings and updates to internal stakeholders and at scientific conferences (where appropriate), ensuring cutting-edge expertise is cultivated and maintained.
You hold either a Masters or PhD degree in the life sciences with at least 7 years of professional laboratory experience focused on the application of histological techniques ideally in either the pharmaceutical industry or biotech sector;
