We are currently seeking an Epidemiologist with a strong medical background to join our dynamic research team. Our work involves conducting clinical trials of interventions with potential public health impact, alongside research into the biological, clinical, environmental, and lifestyle determinants of healthy longevity. Ultimately, our aim is to generate evidence that shapes effective strategies for promoting longer and healthier lives at both individual and population levels.
This position is based at the University of Basel Department of Aging Medicine FELIX PLATTER, which is part of the Swiss Campus for Healthy Longevity.
Our team operates in an interdisciplinary and translational research environment which offers a collaborative setting that bridges academic research in an international network and clinical application, making it an ideal environment for impactful public health research.
As part of our team, your main tasks will include:
Cleaning, analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing data from clinical trials coordinated by our group, in both interventional and observational settings
Providing research and methodological support to staff members and doctoral students, including:
Study design and research proposal development
Data cleaning and statistical analysis
Report and manuscript writing, and presenting findings
Contributing to grant and funding proposal writing
Ihr ProfilPhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related discipline
Strong experience in clinical epidemiological research or large-scale population studies; experience with epigenetics or multi-omics is a plus
Strong methodological skills in study design and data analysis
Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
Proficiency in statistical software, particularly SAS or R
Proven excellence in manuscript writing and scientific publication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
German is a plus
Your work will be carried out under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Heike Bischoff-Ferrari, MPH DrPH, Chair of Geriatrics at the University of Basel, Dept. Chair, Acute Aging Medicine at the University of Basel Department of Aging Medicine FELIX PLATTER (UAFP), and Director of the Swiss Campus for Healthy Longevity. The Campus work also involves the network of the DO-HEALTH study and the “Global Health Span Extension Consortium”.
