Quality Engineer

Position: Quality Engineer (Fixed Term Contract)
A leading high‑precision aerospace manufacturer is seeking a Quality Engineer for an 8‑month fixed‑term contract based in Basildon, finishing 04 August 2026. This on‑site role focuses on ensuring product quality across production and new product introductions within a regulated aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Promote and enforce safe working practices and compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.

* Manage customer complaints from initial report through investigation and corrective action, using structured problem‑solving methods such as 8D.

* Plan and perform internal audits to aerospace standards and support external and customer audits, driving closure of non‑conformances.

* Lead material review board activities, interpret engineering drawings and standards, and control production documentation and route cards.

* Support supplier quality through audits, performance monitoring, complaint handling and maintaining the Approved Supplier List.

* Own quality activities for New Product Introduction, applying tools such as PPAP, FMEA and APQP, and produce First Article Inspection Reports.

* Analyse process data to identify improvement opportunities and lead or support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma or RCA techniques.

* Maintain and update the Quality Management System and provide training to colleagues and customers.

* Support business systems such as the CC database and Aventa/Factory Master.

Qualifications and Experience

* Degree in an engineering or quality discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

* Essential: demonstrable experience working within an AS9100 aerospace quality environment.

* Experience in defence or aerospace manufacturing is preferred.

* Familiarity with supplier management, audit processes and standard aerospace quality tools is desirable.

* Right to work in the UK and availability to be on site in Basildon for the contract duration.

Package and Practical Details

* Salary: £50,000 per annum (pro rata for the fixed‑term contract).

* Hours:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

* Holidays: 33 days per year (pro rata for the contract).
