School Crossing Patrol Officer – Thundersley Primary School

Working Style: Operational field‑based worker
The role is for approximately 7.5 hours per week during the 39‑week academic year. You will be required to work 45 minutes between 08:00 – 09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45 – 15:45 in the afternoon, depending on individual site requirements. Uniform, equipment and training will be provided.
Responsibilities- To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility‑impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
- Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site in order to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
- Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
