We are exclusively recruiting for a privately owned group of companies based in Basildon, Essex. With a proud heritage, strong market presence, and ambitious growth plans, our client is entering an exciting new phase. To support this expansion, we are creating a newly established Group Financial Controller role to lead and evolve the finance function across the group.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors and working closely with the senior leadership team, the Group Financial Controller will take full ownership of financial reporting, compliance, planning, and strategic support across all group entities.

This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to build and shape the finance function from the ground up, making a real impact at both operational and strategic levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day financial operations across the group, including management accounts, financial reporting, and cash flow forecasting.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls, processes, and financial systems.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Oversee statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors and advisors.
• Provide insightful analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
• Drive financial efficiency and continuous improvement across the business.
• Manage and develop a small finance team as the business grows.

About You:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA)
• Originally trained in practice with a strong technical background.
• Proven experience in a senior finance role within a growing SME or group structure.
• Hands-on, proactive, and commercially minded.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Experience with implementing or upgrading finance systems is a plus.
