Senior​/Principal Engineer; Bridges

Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer – Basingstoke

WSP invites you to join our Bridges team to design, strengthen and assess high-performance bridges. You will deliver quality engineering support across road, rail and footbridge projects.

• Bridge design, strengthening and repair – including inspections and assessments.
• General civil and structural engineering support to other teams.
• Preparation of documents, reports, risk assessments and scheme designs.
• Checking drawings and supervising CAD technicians.

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.
• Practical knowledge of bridge design, strengthening or assessment.
• Project management experience.
• Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and/or Network Rail Standards.
• Experience of design or assessment of steel, reinforced or prestressed concrete bridge structures.
• Experience of finite element analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAM.
• Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills.

The Bridges team works on highway and rail bridge projects for local authorities, contractors and public‑sector clients. The role is predominantly office based but travel to sites is occasional.

Office based, site visits as required. Hybrid working – home two days a week, office three days a week across the UK.
