Why Hawk-Eye & Why Football?

As a Football Systems Operator, you will work on-site at football stadiums around the UK, playing a key part in delivering our services to Premier League and Championship matches. You will have the chance to be involved in the research and development of existing and new products.

When on-site at stadiums, the role will encompass the installation and operation of our technology for matches. You will need to be prepared to work on weekends and midweek evenings, as we work whenever Football happens.

Whilst we provide several services in top-flight football, you will initially focus on learning about our Goal Line Technology service. You will gain exposure to various other services, such as VAR at Stockley Park, as you progress in the role and become a more experienced team member.

We will equip you with the technical training, support and full exposure to our systems to perform your day‑to‑day tasks, but also encourage development and progression to help make an impact on what we do.

What Does A Football Systems Operator Do?
  • Installation and setup of Hawk‑Eye technology in the build‑up to matches, and performing pre‑match checks (this can involve physically demanding work, such as rigging cameras and running cables);

  • Liaise with key stakeholders from broadcast companies, match officials and teams to ensure all contractual obligations are seamlessly delivered;

  • Monitoring and operating Hawk‑Eye technologies during matches;

  • Providing quick resolutions for any technical issues;

  • Work in a variety of environments; within Hawk‑Eye teams, across onsite, office‑based or remote opportunities;

  • Taking ownership of our system on‑site and representing our company in the best possible manner;

  • Research and development into new projects and technologies;

  • Maintenance of the kit and equipment needed to run the system;

  • Driving our vans between stadiums.

Why Is This the Right Job for You?

This position is perfect for you if you possess:

  • A technical grounding

  • Strong problem‑solving skills

  • Excellent communication with the ability to liaise with clients and customers in a professional and approachable manner

  • Great teamwork skills

  • A passion for innovation

  • A willingness to learn

  • Flexible and willing to travel worldwide regularly

  • The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced and pressurised environment

  • An interest in the sport of Rugby

  • Must be currently studying towards an undergraduate degree

At Hawk‑Eye Innovations, we appreciate and value the importance of potential and growth. If you do not meet all of the criteria above but believe that there are certain areas you excel and that you possess the passion and desire to develop the other attributes, then we encourage you to apply.

  • Passion: Our love for sports drives everything we do.

What Difficulties Might I Face?

Up to this point, I’m sure there have been many things that you find intriguing about the role; however, there can be difficult times:

Working Hours
:
Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the last ball has been hit.

Travelling Abroad
:
You can expect to potentially spend sporadic periods of the year working across Europe and potentially globally, based on the sporting calendar.

High-Pressure Situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed to millions worldwide will bring high levels of pressure.

We will do our best to train and equip you to the best possible level to help with these, but they must be considered…
