Maintenance Assistant

The Estates Department is looking for a Maintenance Assistant with a background preferably gained in mechanical/electrical maintenance, building services or a healthcare environment to join the Maintenance Team.

• Carrying out planned and reactive building works to ensure a welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
• Planning, maintaining and improving the building and its facilities.
• Completing planned maintenance dockets, defect dockets and the Estates elements of the NHS National Cleaning Standards within the hospital environment.
• Assisting with other building‑related tasks and mechanical/electrical services in plant rooms and ward areas.
• Providing flexible working arrangements where requested.

• Background preferred in mechanical/electrical maintenance, building services or a healthcare environment.
• Good communication skills and an empathetic approach to staff and patients.
• Adaptable, willing to learn new skills and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Physical ability and agility to carry out manual handling tasks.
• Valid full driving licence is an advantage.
• Fluent communication in English to an appropriate standard (required by Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016).
