General Manager

Location: Basingstoke

Full-Time: On-site

Salary: £90,000 - £100,000 + Car + Bonus

Loom Talent are delighted to be supporting a global leader in contract logistics with the appointment of a General Manager for their Distribution centre in Basingstoke.

The General Manager will champion the ongoing cultural transformation of the Distribution Centre, driving engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement. This people‑focused leader will inspire a diverse management team, strengthen collaboration, and cultivate an inclusive, supportive workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire the management team to achieve operational goals while promoting innovation and engagement.
  • Drive cultural and performance improvements through transformational initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe, compliant workplace, working closely with the H&S Manager.
  • Deliver customer service targets and manage budgets effectively.
  • Champion employee engagement through open communication and feedback.
  • Build strong, constructive relationships with union representatives.
  • Contribute to UK & Ireland network decisions and represent the business positively at all times.
Qualifications
  • FMCG Expertise:
    Extensive experience in retail or distribution centre operations, with a strong record of managing large, complex budgets and high‑volume operations.
  • Transformational Leadership:
    Proven ability to lead cultural and operational change, driving continuous improvement while keeping employee wellbeing at the centre.
  • Strategic Mindset:
    Skilled at using data and insights to shape strategy, respond to industry trends, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • People Leadership:
    Empathetic and passionate about talent development, providing mentorship and feedback that enables individuals and teams to thrive.
  • Exceptional Communication:
    Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to build trust, encourage transparency, and foster collaboration across all levels of the organisation.
