The Opportunity.

We are a growing specialist contractor delivering dry lining and internal partition packages across commercial and residential projects. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to take ownership of commercial performance across the business. This is a senior, hands‑on role with real influence. You will lead the commercial function, protect and improve margins, and work closely with senior management to support strategic decision‑making.

You will also play a key role in developing and mentoring the surveying team as the business continues to expand. This role is ideally suited to an established Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager who enjoys responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape how a business operates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full commercial control and cost management across all projects
  • Ownership of budgets, forecasts, CVRs, and cost‑to‑complete reporting
  • Maintaining and improving tender profit margins across the portfolio
  • Accurate and timely monthly financial reporting to senior management
  • Management and agreement of client and subcontractor valuations
  • Commercial management of variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Optimising contract conditions and mitigating commercial risk
  • Supporting tender reviews, cost plans, and bid validation
  • Ensuring strong cash flow through proactive commercial management
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the commercial/surveying team
  • Resolving contractual and commercial issues as they arise
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships to support repeat business and tender success
What Makes This Role Different
  • Genuine responsibility for commercial performance and profitability
  • A senior position within the management team, reporting directly to the Directors
  • Opportunity to shape systems, processes, and best practice
  • High level of autonomy with direct access to decision‑makers
  • Leadership role within a growing business — not a corporate hierarchy
  • Clear long‑term progression as the company continues to expand
Key Experience & Skills Essential
  • Proven experience in a senior commercial or quantity surveying role
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
  • Excellent financial and cost control capability
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels (clients, subcontractors, internal teams)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise high‑value projects
  • Calm, structured approach under pressure
Desirable
  • Business or construction‑related qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior surveyors
Personal Attributes
  • Commercially astute with a strong business mindset
  • Takes ownership and accountability for results
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused, and improvement‑driven
