Interim Asset Management Surveyor

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has an established and ambitious property investment portfolio, currently valued at £283.9m and generating an annual income of £19.2m.

The portfolio comprises over 200 assets, including major town-centre developments at Basing View and The Malls, alongside a diverse mix of industrial, retail, office, and leisure properties.

We are seeking an Interim Asset Management Surveyor to join our Investment Team. This is a hands-on estate management role, playing a key part in delivering the priorities set out in the Council’s Annual Property Plan and supporting the continued evolution of the investment portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver day-to-day asset and estate management across the Council’s commercial investment portfolio, including directly let and ground-leased properties.

Undertake rent reviews, negotiate new lettings, lease renewals, and manage all landlord and tenant matters.

Process applications for landlord’s consent, surrenders, and dilapidations.

Manage multi-let properties, including service charge management and budgeting.

Oversee appointed letting agents, monitor debt, and manage rental income.

Contribute to project groups relating to the managed portfolio and represent the Property Team where required.

Undertake property valuations as required to support portfolio management and decision-making.

Candidate Requirements

RICS qualified with proven experience in a commercial property environment.

Strong working knowledge and understanding of commercial leases.

Experience in estate and asset management within a complex property portfolio.

Full UK driving licence; access to own transport is desirable
