Join to apply for the Graduate Security Systems Engineer role at Buro Happold

How do you secure a building, whilst making it functional, welcoming, operationally effective and efficient? We approach buildings and the projects we work on looking to ensure we create an environment that is pleasant to be in, aesthetically attractive, maintaining individuals privacy, space and movement, whilst simultaneously also being safe and secure.

What are the emerging technologies that will facilitate these objectives? How is the built environment changing, and what innovations and developments will shape the way people and technology evolve in the future? Where does AI fit in to all this, and how will it be used in design, operations, systems and process? How will you enable design solutions that anticipate events before they occur, and how will you ensure optimal awareness and response if and when they do?

What is Security Consulting Engineering?

Our experience and position across security, technologies and the construction industries uniquely qualifies us to offer services uncommon to traditional security consultants. Our clients can benefit from bespoke strategies, followed by engineered solutions that holistically consider risk, operational requirements, the business case for technology investment and the wider architectural vision. By engaging in leading research and development, we navigate and influence industry and the regulatory and statutory landscape.

We consider a project’s key threats and critical dependencies from the outset, allowing us to design in ‘real world’ mitigation strategies that remain flexible to a changing threat landscape, whilst maintaining a project’s aesthetic and aspirations. We develop strategies that provide the right mitigation without placing obtrusive and unfriendly measures that could detract from the look of a building.

Security systems and associated technologies continue to advance r this with the world’s constantly evolving security risks you want to be certain your built environment is safe. Our experience and wider team capability includes master‑planning, risk assessment, strategy, engineering and operations. An engineering role in the security team includes collaboration, coordination and integration across the security teams specialist experience, with Buro Happold’s wider disciplines, and through collaboration with architects, wider organisations, and clients themselves.
