Research Associate in Materials Electrochemistry
University of Bath – full‑time, fixed‑term 2‑year position starting April 2026.
OverviewThe Trigate project focuses on optimisation of electrochemical electrode processes involving gases (oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide reduction) in a biomimetic fashion using microporous materials. The research associate will lead experimental work, liaise with collaborators, and support project students.
Responsibilities- Drive experimental research in electrocatalytic processes, including electrode design, product analysis, and mechanistic studies.
- Liaise with collaborators in academia and industry and report to specialist and non‑specialist audiences via conferences and outreach.
- Write professional reports and publications, including data analysis and preparation of graphical materials.
- Contribute to guiding project students and, where appropriate, undertake minor teaching challenges.
- PhD (or equivalent) in materials chemistry, electrochemistry, or a closely allied field.
- Evidence of independent research ability, including planning and executing experiments, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Proven ability to write professional publications.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for specialist and non‑specialist audiences.
- Minimum of 10 days pro‑rated professional development per year.
