Youth Support Worker – Bath
Axcis Education is working with an all-through specialist school that supports over 100 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Students may experience anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, self-harm or attachment disorders, and all have an EHCP for SEMH. Our mission is to offer a safe, nurturing environment where each young person can learn trust, build strong relationships, and develop resilience.
Our provision is shaped by research‑informed SEMH methodologies:
- Clear routines and calm boundaries
- Attentive relationships where every voice and non‑verbal cue matters
- Solution‑focused support with reflective “safe spaces” available
- Deliver 1:1 therapeutic or emotional support tailored to students’ needs
- Co‑facilitate small groups that focus on social skills, emotional regulation, or wellbeing
- Work closely with teaching and therapeutic staff to implement SEMH‑informed strategies
- Monitor and record pupil progress, adapt approaches as needed
- Build trusting, respectful relationships; celebrate progress and successes
- Contribute to creating a safe and inclusive environment in line with our safeguarding ethos
- A supportive, collaborative setting as part of a Trust that invests in professional development (e.g., SEMH safe haven training, safeguarding conferences)
- An environment guided by core values and evidence‑based approaches
- Flexible contract types ranging from short‑term to permanent, full‑time or part‑time
- Pay rates around £13.60 per hour
- Experience or strong interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs
- Excellent communication skills – both for building rapport and collaborating with colleagues
- Emotional resilience and ability to use structured, nurturing approaches when working with challenging behaviour
- Commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice
- Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Social Care, Youth Work, Counselling) or demonstrable relevant experience
