About The Role
Transport Manager – responsible for overseeing the operation of the company vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with DVSA regulations, monitoring driver hours, maintaining vehicles, and leading driver compliance and risk‑management initiatives.
Responsibilities- Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations and the Operation Licence undertakings.
- Act as the named Transport Manager on the Company Vehicle Operators Licence.
- Monitor EU Driver Hours Rules and Working Time Regulations for mobile workers, addressing infringements per the tachograph policy.
- Ensure all vehicles are serviced and maintained to a high standard, achieving total compliance.
- Manage maintenance contracts, keeping them up to date.
- Lead driver compliance and fleet risk, administering all business procedures.
- Conduct weekly vehicle gate checks, rectify defects, and provide driver training.
- Produce monthly governance reports on driver and vehicle maintenance compliance for the UK Fleet Manager.
- Instil a positive culture towards driver behaviour, road risk and safety, improving performance.
- Maintain effective communication with key colleagues on a daily basis.
- Manage the Earned Recognition KPIs, ensuring accurate data prior to DVSA upload.
- Present daily VOR information to Traffic Planners, Department Heads and Senior Management.
- Ensure adherence to service intervals, LOLER tests and equipment maintenance per manuals.
- Inspect and calibrate tachograph recording equipment per legislative timescales.
- Collate and monitor driver tachographs via approved software for auditing.
- Produce monthly reports detailing driver hours and tachograph information.
- Keep Regional Fleet Manager and Service Delivery Managers informed of issues requiring action.
- Ensure all transport and fleet employees receive safety‑related LMS training on time.
- Assist in delivering safety bulletins and toolbox talks in conjunction with Group Driver’s Handbook.
- Keep drivers informed of procedural changes and conduct meetings to update them on legislation and company activities.
- Investigate all complaints, implement remedial measures and communicate promptly with complainants.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all relevant regulations and legislation.
- Monitor and implement driver training, including driver CPC.
- Authorize expenditures and verify invoices, purchase orders via the company’s ordering software.
- Carry out additional tasks as instructed by Senior Management that align with the job role.
- Ensure weekly payroll on TMS is completed accurately and on time.
- Instil a positive culture towards driver behaviour, road risk & safety and improve performance.
- Maintain effective and constructive communication with key colleagues daily.

- Maintain vehicles and equipment in fit and proper condition per operating manuals.

- Collate and monitor driver tachographs and related data via approved software.
- Produce monthly reports on driver hours and tachograph information.
- Keep fleet managers informed of any issues requiring action.
- Ensure all safety‑related LMS training is completed on time.
- Assist in delivering safety bulletins and toolbox talks with Group Driver’s Handbook.
- Keep drivers updated on procedural changes, arrange meetings, and ensure they receive relevant information.
- Investigate complaints, implement remedial measures and communicate with complainants.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulations and legislation.
- Monitor and implement training, including driver CPC.
- Authorize expenditures and check invoices and purchase orders via ordering software.
- Carry out additional tasks as instructed by Senior Management.
