Position: Cable Technician – 13762

Salary: £To be confirmed on application (our client has asked for this not to be advertised).

Location: Flintshire – full time on site

Contracting Authority: Government Client
Contract Length: 6 months
Clearance: BPSS

Essential:
  • Must be able to understand and interpret complex electrical and mechanical drawings and diagrams to produce cables.
  • Must be able to use electrical/mechanical test equipment to confirm serviceability and to assist fault diagnosis.
  • Be proficient in hand skills for crimping, soldering, wire stripping, heat guns and cable winding machinery.
  • Have a thorough understanding of practical cable manufacture techniques i.e. cable looms and harness layout.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of terminations and connections and their application.
  • Carry out all work in a proficient manner to ensure airworthiness and customer levels are maintained.
  • Must have an experienced broad skill set in cable manufacture.
  • PTT qualified & certified
  • Understand the dangers of safely testing and working on live equipment, which can include high levels of current/voltage.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations and NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering (Manufacturing Aircraft Wiring Looms) or ONC equivalent. Or a recognised relevant apprenticeship or similar accredited training or appropriate industry experience, in a cable manufacturing role or electrical and electronic component repair or a similar military role may be deemed sufficient.
Desirable:
  • Carry out repairs and modifications to a wide range of components of varying complexity and age.
  • Demonstrate suitable hand skills, both mechanical (screwdrivers, spanners, pliers etc.) and electrical (soldering irons, solder rework centres, crimping etc.). Display an understanding of, and the ability to interpret, complex circuit diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Have an understanding of practical and theoretical electronics.
