Job AdvertAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Officer within the Strategic Commissioning and Procurement Team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated, commercially‑focused procurement professional to provide strategic and operational support to our Senior Procurement Officers and the Manager for Commissioning & Procurement, by leading on a wide variety of both revenue and capital projects, ensuring that the Council has an effective and value‑for‑money approach to Procurement, in full compliance with the new legislative regime (Procurement Act 2023 and Procurement Regulations 2024).
The successful applicant will be ideally CIPS qualified or working towards this, have substantial experience in relation to contracting and procurement, be able to work at pace and have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and able to work effectively as part of a dynamic team.
You will be joining the Environment, Corporate & Property team, working in a supportive environment, which will present multiple opportunities for personal and professional development. You will work closely with procurement colleagues, within your immediate team but also the wider team, utilising opportunities to support a range of procurement activity. The wider team incorporates the Strategic Commissioning and Procurement function for Environment and Resources, as well as Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Public Health.
This role will provide access to training in key areas to support and develop the successful candidate.
Please note that during January 2026 the Council will be undertaking a consultation with staff and trade unions to move to a three‑day office week, hybrid working arrangement, from early February 2026 onwards.
