Health & Safety Advisor

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at B&M’s Fort Distribution Centre in Bedford, reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager. This role operates on a
rotational shift pattern of four days on and four days off, alternating between night and day shifts.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently in a Health & Safety administrative or similar role who’s ready to take the next step in their H&S career within a fast-paced retail logistics environment.

• Investigating and recording incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health.
• Supporting the wider H&S team with information and documentation gathering for authority or civil cases.
• Undertaking site inspections and risk assessments as directed.
• Ensuring equipment is installed and maintained safely and correctly, in line with relevant processes.
• Identifying hazards, observing working practices, and recommending corrective measures.
• Assisting with the creation and review of internal Health & Safety policies and strategies.
• Maintaining accurate data capture processes and compiling regular reports and statistics.
• Supporting the organisation of Health & Safety meetings and training sessions.
• Assisting the H&S Manager with communication and liaison with relevant authorities.
• Keeping up to date with current Health & Safety legislation and ensuring ongoing compliance.
• Always acting as a visible and approachable H&S ambassador on site.

• Experience in Health & Safety Admin/Advisor role or similar
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualified, or willing to work towards
• Competent IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Excel
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, operational environment
• Excellent time management and communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Experience with in a retail environment is preferred but not essential
