Male Support Worker

Job Overview

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Male Support Workers to join our team in Bedlington. The service is male only and applicants must hold a full and valid driving licence.

As a Support Worker you will assist a gentleman in his 50s who lives in his own bungalow. Duties include supporting him with daily activities, medication, personal care, household tasks and emotional support. He attends a work placement from 9 am to 3:30 pm; support continues from 3:30 pm until a sleep‑in finish at 9 am the next morning. You will also help him with garden and woodwork activities.

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

All services are 24hr care. Rotas are prepared at least four weeks in advance. A sleep‑in is available with an enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references. Due to the nature of this service we are looking for male only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1. £12.60 per hour + 24 days paid holiday (excluding bank holidays, pro‑rata), discounts at high‑street retailers, access to health cash plans, interest‑free loans and more.
