OverviewThales UK is a leader in aerospace, defence, security and space technology, providing technology and services that impact millions of lives. This placement offers an opportunity for a penultimate‑year engineering student to work alongside a multi‑disciplinary team of 35 electronics engineers, learning and contributing to the design of state‑of‑the‑art systems that deliver world‑class performance.
Responsibilities- Support the design of advanced electronic systems, from requirements capture and analysis to defining system architecture.
- Collaborate with the team to optimise design through trade‑offs, studies, analyses, modelling and simulation.
- Build, test and verify solutions to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
- Work on optimisation, best‑in‑class competitive product development, and continuous improvement of design processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Studying in the penultimate year of a relevant Engineering, Scientific or Numerate degree (BEng / BSc minimum).
- Understanding of basic electronic circuits.
- Experience with electronics simulation or design tools.
- Demonstrable analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, initiative‑driven and team‑working.
- Goal‑oriented and delivery focused.
- Displays innovation and self‑motivation.
- Demonstrates dedication and determination against assigned tasks.
This role requires SC Clearance. Existing clearance will be advantageous. If not held, the successful candidate must undergo, achieve and maintain SC Clearance. Guidance is available on the UKSV website. In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment/education history for up to three years.
