THE EMPLOYER IS: O'NEILL'S FUNERAL DIRECTORS LTDWe are seeking a Trainee Funeral Service Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding families through the funeral process, providing support during a difficult time, and ensuring that all arrangements are handled with the utmost professionalism and care. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
As a Trainee Funeral Service Operator, you will gain practical and hands-on experience of tasks including deceased care and handling, funeral service preparation and support, vehicle operation and procession management and facility presentation and chapel maintenance.
You will receive the following:
-A comprehensive induction and task-specific training.
-Direct supervision and mentoring by experienced team members.
-Regular progress reviews and feedback sessions.
-Additional support or external training where required to ensure competence and confidence in each skill area.
- Deceased Care and Handling - Learning safe and dignified procedures for transferring, preparing, and presenting the deceased, in compliance with health, safety, and dignity standards.
- Funeral Service Preparation and Support - Training in the setup of funeral venues, arranging floral tributes, preparing coffins and equipment, and assisting with service logistics.
- Vehicle Operation and Procession Management - Gaining experience in maintaining and presenting funeral vehicles, assisting with funeral processions, route planning, and cortege coordination.
- Facility Presentation and Chapel Maintenance - Developing skills in maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of chapels of rest.
- Good written and verbal English for health & safety purposes.
- Confidence with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook).
