The post holder will provide advanced clinical specialist assessment and treatment of patients with persistent pain conditions.
Responsibilities of the post include clinical caseload management, multi-professional and multi-agency interface and service improvement.
The post holder will work collaboratively with management and other health professionals within the service to ensure efficient and effective utilization of response to continued service development the post holder may be required to undertake flexible working including extended working and seven day working as determined by operational requirements.
- To be an Advanced Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist for Persistent Pain; liaising with and advising patients and professional colleagues regarding Occupational Therapy treatment.
- To provide advanced specialist assessment and treatment to patients referred with persistent pain providing a high standard of clinical knowledge within the service,
- Have advanced clinical knowledge of persistent pain conditions and recognise the functional limitations and subsequent interventions to promote independence.
- To attend meetings and liaise regularly with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure common goals and outcomes are met.
- To attend Business meetings as requested to discuss the overall MDT running of services, and in particular highlight any Occupational Therapy specific issues and contribute to the Occupational Therapy audits within this forum.
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a school recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT)
- Must have a minimum of 5 years post-graduate clinical experience, at least 3 of which have been at Band 6 level in the assessment and treatment of patients with chronic/long term conditions.
- Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Hold a full current driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.‘Where disability prohibits driving, this criteria will be waived if the applicant is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements’
- Evidence of participation in Leadership Training.
- Evidence of/ or willingness to complete postgraduate training to master’s level or equivalent.
- Experience of carrying out research / Audit.
- Experience of delivering group work.
- Experience/knowledge of using psychological treatment approaches.
