As an AWS Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant), you’ll be responsible for leading teams to design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern platforms. You’ll join our dedicated EDM product team as we build something that lasts. It’s a fast-paced environment and you’ll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions. You’ll learn about new technologies and approaches with colleagues that will help you to learn, develop and grow.

You’ll deepen your expertise with long-term challenges and real-world scale. As the technical leader in the team, you will also interact with customers, share knowledge and mentor those around you.

• Working as part of a team – you’ll work alongside colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security capabilities to build, test and deploy software of the highest quality, including the operation and continuous improvement of underlying platform services.
• AWS Expertise – Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architecture on AWS.
• Providing Technical Leadership – you’ll provide direction and leadership for your team as you solve challenging problems together on delivery and support projects.
• Using technology for positive impact – you’ll ensure the latest technologies are employed appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum user and business benefit.
• Being objectively opinionated – as a respected voice within Kainos and beyond, you’ll offer your opinion and critique to improve our solutions and share knowledge internally and Industry-wide.
• Becoming a Role Model – you’ll foster a Dev Ops culture and embody Kainos values, earning trust through transparent and justified decisions and a commitment to project success.
• Putting people first & developing others – you’ll manage, coach and develop a small number of staff, with a focus on performance management and career development.

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical design to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven experience in team leadership and supporting a Dev Ops culture in delivering and/or supporting complex projects.
• Significant expertise in:
  • AWS and Terraform – broad know-how around constructing applications and services on AWS with Terraform.
  • Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and/or operating reliable modern digital service platforms in production.
  • Continuous Delivery and automation techniques for releasing operational software to production, including platform orchestration with multiple configuration management tools.
• Demonstrable experience in:
  • Building and/or supporting modern digital service platforms with architecture, design, estimation, planning and MVP iteration in agile environments.
  • Championing Site Reliability Engineering tooling, techniques and processes to manage and improve platform services, including monitoring, modernization and cost optimization.
  • Use of AWS cloud platforms including SaaS or PaaS offerings to solve business problems.

• Obtained AWS Sys Ops Administrator, Dev Ops Engineer or Solutions Architect certification.
• Obtained Terraform Associate certification.
• Obtained certification related to a particular area of specialization such as Networking or Security.
