We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our newly formed, Belfast‑based Data Platform Team in building a next‑generation data platform which will leverage aPriori’s proprietary data to deliver powerful insights and AI capabilities.

In this role, you will collaborate with aPriori product and domain experts to build a modern data pipeline with product‑facing and internal capabilities for BI, traditional and generative AI. Leveraging your expertise in data engineering or AI/ML engineering, you will be responsible for driving cross‑domain collaboration through a rapidly scalable data platform to support enterprise‑level analytics. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and proven experience managing software engineering teams with a solid understanding of data quality and experience with one or more major cloud platforms’ data and AI offerings.

Location: Belfast (Hybrid—2‑3 days per week in office)

• Lead and manage the Data Platform team through design, development, and delivery of a modern data pipeline for BI and AI/ML.
• Evaluate the technical decisions of the team to improve data processing, storage, and analytics capabilities.
• Foster a high‑performing team culture through strong leadership, team collaboration, and talent development.
• Manage, mentor and evaluate engineers' performance to drive efficiency, professional growth and team success.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to translate organisational goals into technical direction for the data engineering team.
• Effectively plan and oversee data platform projects, managing team workload to ensure consistent delivery and achievement of targets.
• Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and leadership, ensuring transparency and realistic expectation management.
• Contribute to the organisation’s technical strategy ensuring that the team’s work aligns with the company’s goals.

• Proven ability to lead software engineering teams (people management and technical delivery).
• Proven experience in effectively allocating team resources, managing workloads, and coaching high‑performing individual contributors.
• Experience with building data pipelines featuring modern tools such as: dbt, Airflow/Temporal, Airbyte, Debezium, Kafka Connect.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Expertise with at least one modern data warehouse (Snowflake, Big Query, Redshift).
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, ISO 27001, etc.).

• Experience with traditional AI/ML and related cloud offerings (Tensor Flow/Google Vertex/Amazon Sage Maker).
• Experience with generative AI, leveraging 3rd‑party LLMs to build platform/product capabilities.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
