Senior Software Engineer - Entrant

MCS Group is supporting a scaling organisation operating at the intersection of cutting‑edge technology and the digital‑assets world. With a strong track record across several market cycles, the firm builds modern systems that help institutions engage confidently with the crypto ecosystem. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to build out their brand new, core engineering function here in Belfast
.

• This Senior Software Engineer will design and develop enterprise‑grade platforms that power trading, risk, operations and treasury workflows.
• You’ll build and maintain high‑performance services, internal tools and data feeds, ensuring they are reliable, scalable and resilient.
• Working closely with business leads and front‑office teams, you will translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions, contributing to both new greenfield initiatives and enhancements to existing systems.
• You’ll also help drive engineering standards around quality, cost‑efficiency and operational excellence.

• Experience at senior level or above, in a software engineering or technical role
• Strong Java development experience, ideally including Spring Boot
• Knowledge of Kafka or similar messaging/streaming technologies
• Professional experience working in cloud environments, ideally AWS (certifications welcome)
• Solid software architecture and system design abilities
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field from a reputable institution
• Interest in or exposure to the crypto / digital‑assets space is highly valued, or solid experience working on complex financial services applications and platforms.

Location: This will be a Belfast based role, as one of the first members of the new NI Team.

Salary: Flexible but in the region of £80k - £100k+
