Job Description & How to Apply Below
Application close date:
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As an Project Engineer at Blue Origin, you will own the full lifecycle of ordnance hardware — from design and qualification through delivery and installation on the vehicle. You will develop and maintain the ordnance project schedule within the program's Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), keeping it tightly linked to vehicle need dates while identifying critical paths and staying ahead of bottlenecks across concurrent vehicles and test campaigns.
You will build and manage the resource plan for your scope, lead the team's operational rhythm through stand‑ups, schedule reviews, and supplier reviews, and drive all actions and commitments through to closure. On the cost and supply chain side, you will own the project budget and spend forecast while serving as the program's primary voice with Supply Chain — proactively removing barriers, ensuring timely hardware delivery, and mitigating shortages to protect the build schedule.
This is a high-impact role for a motivated program manager who thrives in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment and is ready to help launch humanity's future in space.
Own ordnance demand integration: forecast demand across vehicle serial numbers and test campaigns, validate MRP demand signals, and resolve eBOM–mBOM mismatches. Forecasts must account for lot sizes, test‑sample consumption, and minimum buys. Maintain the master ordnance list and lot/serial traceability from as‑designed through as‑flown, and track service life so that no expired device reaches the vehicle. Support change and configuration control by assessing the cost, schedule, and effectivity impact of changes on hardware in production, in storage, or installed.
Risk,Reporting and Improvement
Lead identification and mitigation of risks and opportunities, with emphasis on safety, supply continuity, and schedule. Present status, risks, variances, and recovery plans to program management. Build and maintain metrics and dashboards (schedule health, lot status, service‑life runway, supplier performance) that give leadership a clear basis for decisions. Coordinate with Quality, EHS/Explosive Safety, Ordnance Services, and Logistics on nonconformance investigations, MRB actions, and hazardous‑materials shipping and storage.
Apply data and AI‑based tools to streamline planning, analysis, and reporting, and improve project management processes as the team matures.
- B.S. degree in Engineering (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, industrial, or related discipline) or equivalent technical experience
- 4+ years of experience planning and managing projects on complex engineered aerospace or defense hardware, including managing priorities, scope, schedule, integration, and cost
- Experience with critical path scheduling, IMS, risk management, and Cost Account Management
- Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar scheduling software
- Technical background in aerospace hardware development,…
