Medical Physicist – 100% (both unlimited and fixed-term possible)
InstitutionInstitute for Integrated Diagnostics of Italian-speaking Switzerland, Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), Ticino's multi-site hospital with 1,000 beds.
OverviewThe EOC operates throughout the canton, providing a total of 1,000 beds. It offers comprehensive, local hospital services for its population and serves over 41,000 inpatients per year and more than 600,000 outpatient consultations. The Institute for Integrated Diagnostics of Italian-speaking Switzerland (IDISI) groups the clinics of radiology, nuclear medicine, pathology, and laboratory medicine, performing nearly 4 million examinations and analyses annually.
IDISI promotes a multidisciplinary approach to create efficient, personalized diagnostic and therapeutic pathways and supports university teaching and biomedical research. To complete our Medical Physics Service team, we are looking for a Medical Physicist (100%).
The Medical Physics Service employs seven Medical Physicists, two Dosimetrists, and a technologist who manage radiotherapy, radiation protection, and imaging throughout the EOC departments.
Available equipment includes:
- 2 LINAC Varian True Beam with integrated imaging and 6
DoF couch - Dedicated CT Siemens Somatom Xcite
- MRI Philips Ingenia 1.5 T with MRCAT software for MRI‑only workflow
- Brainlab Exac Trac for stereotactic treatments and radiosurgery
- Surface imaging CRAD: 2 Catalyst HD and 1 Sentinel for 4
DCT and DIBH - Varian ARIA Record and Verify System and TPS Eclipse for planning (3
DCT, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, SRT) - TPS Brainlab Elements (Spine and Multiple Brain Mets module) for SRS and cranial/spinal SRT
- Electronic brachytherapy System Xoft Axxent for gynecological brachytherapy, IORT and skin treatment
- System Alba 4000D for superficial hyperthermia and Alba
4D for depth hyperthermia
- Plan radiotherapy treatments
- Supervise work of dosimetrists
- Oversee quality control of LINACs and equipment
- Participate in research and development
- Collaborate on radiation protection and imaging activities
- Master's degree in physics, Swiss specialization in Medical Physics, or equivalent
- Professional experience in radiotherapy
- Team‑working ability and interest in acquiring new skills in radiotherapy, radiation protection, and imaging
- Resourcefulness and intellectual curiosity
- Knowledge of English and preferably German (Italian is optional)
- Experience with Varian technology preferred
- Identification with the organization's values
