The Role

JOB TITLE: Technical Field Engineer

BASE

LOCATION:

Bellshill (on-site)

WORKING PATTERN: Permanent Full‑time (35 hours per week)

ROLE

PURPOSE:

As a Field Engineer, you’ll be the face of Kick on‑site with our customers, delivering high‑quality technical support and service across a broad range of IT environments. You’ll diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring minimal disruption to customer operations while maintaining our high standards of service delivery.

Working closely with the Helpdesk, you’ll take ownership of troubleshooting, installations, and maintenance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and customer interaction, while developing their technical expertise within a growing managed service provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend customer sites to deliver technical support, fault diagnosis, and issue resolution across desktop, server, and network environments.
  • Provide professional, customer‑focused service, representing Kick in line with our values and service standards.
  • Work closely with the Service Desk to ensure incidents are resolved quickly and effectively, escalating when required.
  • Carry out hardware installations, upgrades, and repairs including PCs, laptops, printers, and network equipment.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi‑Fi access points.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of site visits, equipment, and resolutions.
  • Assist with workshop‑based repairs and equipment preparation when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending preventive measures.
What do I need? Essential
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical support or field engineering role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Experience configuring and supporting network switches, firewalls, and Wi‑Fi.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites across Scotland.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications (e.g. MCP, MCSA).
  • Experience supporting Fortigate Firewalls and Unifi Wireless equipment.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V).
  • Experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
