Mechanical Design Engineer

Jackson Hogg is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a well-established UK manufacturer. This role focuses on designing, developing, and improving high-quality engineered products, using both Solid Works, CAD skills and hands-on prototyping.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer Include:

• Design and develop new and existing products.

• Prototype, test, and refine designs to meet specifications.

• Produce and maintain BOMs and support configuration tools.

• Work with manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to ensure DFM and cost efficiency.

• Create test rigs and support product validation.

• Design parts for casting, injection moulding, extrusion, and sheet metal.

• Produce detailed drawings with accurate GD&T.

• Complete FEA analysis and supporting hand calculations.

• Select appropriate materials for performance and cost.

Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer Include:

• Strong CAD skills (Solid Works or similar) and experience with PDM systems.

• Competent user of FEA tools.

• Experience designing components for injection moulding, extrusion, casting, and sheet metal.

• Good understanding of design for manufacture.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role.
