Health Care Assistant - Ward

Position Summary

We have the opportunity for individuals who are caring and compassionate and enjoy being part of an established and hard-working team, to join us on Ward 19 in a Health Care Assistant role. The right candidate will implement a high standard of care and ensure patient safety is paramount.

Previous care experience is essential, and completion of a care certificate is desirable.

• Assist the Registered Nurse in administering direct patient care.
• Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Communicate with patients regarding comfort and safety, recording communication on Wirral Millennium.
• Prioritise own workload.
• Inform qualified staff of changes in patient condition or observations.
• Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate.
• Communicate with patients/carers taking into consideration individual needs.
• Undertake clerical duties such as filing.
• Order supplies within agreed stock levels, ensuring proper storage.
• Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist in safe handling of patient valuables and property.
• Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
• Report any concerns or anxieties that patients disclose to the appropriate health care professional in charge of patient care.
• Participate in ward safety huddles and raise concerns as required.
• Actively participate in maintaining patient comfort and support patients in changing positions to maintain healthy skin integrity.
