Stroke Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic registered nurse with the passion to develop and deliver high‑quality stroke care for the Wirral population. The ideal candidate should be able to work autonomously and has freedom to act in prioritising and co‑ordinating patients' assessments, referrals and reviews.

• Hyper‑acute and acute stroke services with agreed pathway and protocols
• 24/7 stroke thrombolysis and further assessment for thrombectomy in Walton
• Dedicated nurse triage TIA clinics
• Daily outpatient clinics
• Stroke rehabilitation unit at Clatterbridge Hospital and Early Supported Discharge
• Stroke research service
• High standard of care with skilled management and care delivery of neurovascular conditions from admission to discharge in Wirral teaching hospital.
• Support the development of stroke services with stroke colleagues.
• Work with stroke nursing team to assess & provide support with thrombolysis and thrombectomy service.
• Lead role in the coordination of all stroke & TIA.
• Extend scope of practice and act as an expert resource, providing clinical expertise and leadership.
• Participate and conduct stroke audit to support service improvement.
• Lead role in the education and development of hyper‑acute care & rehabilitation.
• Demonstrate high level of complex decision making in assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in patient care.
• Act as clinical leader, role model and instrumental in setting standards for stroke care.
• Line management duties for a team of clinical stroke coordinators.
