About the Audit Public Sector TeamThe Public Sector Audit team delivers specialist audit and advisory services to central government bodies, local council, police and fire services, NHS Trusts and Integrated Commissioning Boards. You will gain exposure to public‑sector finance and governance, developing expertise that’s highly sought after across the industry.
About the RoleAs a four‑year School Leaver Apprentice, you will progress through a structured training contract. Years 1‑2 will focus on mastering audit techniques, preparing detailed audit documentation and building client relationships. Years 3‑4 will involve taking ownership of audits, mentoring junior staff and working independently on complex engagements.
Responsibilities- Prepare meticulous audit documents using the latest software and methodologies.
- Analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
- Work side‑by‑side with clients across diverse organisations, understanding their operations and challenges.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Take ownership of audit engagements, leading delivery and mentoring newer team members.
- On‑track or obtained A‑level, BTEC or equivalent qualifications with strong academic performance.
- Deep curiosity and natural inquisitiveness.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a desire to share knowledge.
- Commitment to self‑development and continuous learning.
- High sense of ownership and responsibility for delivering on commitments.
- Positive, can‑do attitude and resilience under pressure.
- Excellent time‑management skills and willingness to travel.
- Respect for diversity and integrity.
Full funding for the ACA qualification, coaching, mentorship and one‑on‑one guidance. You will receive a blended training programme of in‑person and virtual learning, as well as dedicated study time. A buddy will help you settle in during your first year.
