About the Business

Are you looking to grow your career within a rapidly expanding company? We have the opportunity for a Service Charge Accountant to join a well-respected property business based in Birmingham City Centre. The Service Charge Accountant will play a crucial role in managing sites all over the UK within a people-focussed finance team.

Main Duties:

As a Service Charge Accountant, your main duties include:

* Prepare and complete annual financial statements and year-end accounts

* Coordinate with external auditors, responding to queries and supporting the completion of audits

* Work closely with property management teams, clients, directors, suppliers, and external advisors as required

* Ensure finalised accounts and reports are distributed within agreed timescales

* Upload approved budgets and generate service charge demands, invoices, and forecast statements

* Prepare statutory notices in line with legislative requirements where applicable

* Reconcile service charge accounts to client records when required

* Liaise with clients regarding cost recharges relating to vacant properties

* Produce management information and financial reports on a monthly or quarterly basis

* Raise and issue customer invoices in accordance with agreed billing schedules

* Respond to routine correspondence in a professional, timely, and customer-focused manner

* Support general administrative tasks, including fund transfers and maintenance of customer records

* Assist with credit control activities as needed

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

* Previous experience in a service charge accounting or property finance role

* Strong understanding of service charge accounting principles and relevant legislation

* Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

* Confident communicator with internal teams, clients, and external parties

* Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
