Assistant Logistics Manager – NEC Birmingham

Levy is looking for an enthusiastic and efficient Assistant Logistics Manager to join the innovative team at NEC Birmingham – the UK’s largest event space.

Salary: £32,000 per annum plus excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.

Assistant Logistics Manager – The role
  • Plan and coordinate comprehensive logistics plans for world‑class events, conferences, and exhibitions, covering venue space, storage, budgeting, reporting, and transportation.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with internal and external professionals (event planners, exhibitors, and internal teams) to understand specific logistical requirements, provide training, and support.
  • Oversee procurement, transportation, and distribution of event materials, including signage, equipment, and promotional items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and implement inventory control measures.
  • Liaise with external transport providers to secure reliable and cost‑effective solutions.
  • Supervise event setup and dismantling processes in line with project timelines, resolving any logistical issues that arise.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for logistical inquiries and emergencies during events.
  • Proactively identify potential logistical challenges, resolve unexpected issues, and develop contingency plans with a solution‑oriented approach.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across transportation, storage, and handling of materials.
What We’re Looking For
  • In‑depth understanding and previous experience of event logistics operations, including live event technical requirements, transportation, storage, and distribution.
  • A keen multitasker who loves problem solving and fast‑paced environments.
  • A quick thinker who can support effective decision making to ensure smooth event flow.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with planners, exhibitors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to translate complex logistical information into clear, actionable plans.
  • Exceptional organisational abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Team motivation skills to foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Customer‑centric approach with the ability to meet diverse event and exhibitor requirements.
  • Strong commitment to delivering a positive and professional experience for clients.
  • Proficiency with relevant logistics software and systems.
  • Familiarity with technical equipment commonly used in live events and exhibitions.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and ability to handle high‑pressure situations with composure.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (Category B) – essential.
  • Current, in‑date FLT Counterbalance licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, or equivalent) – highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate varying event schedules.
